Italian heritage: from Pavia to Philadelphia with passion

3 April 2016

“I wish more people knew that Italy’s No. 1 export is machinery — not food, as many seem to believe.” says Andrea Canepari, Italian Consul General in Philadelphia.

This sentence might illustrate the importance of Italian entrepreneurship for the American economy. Canepari wanted to showcase this influence of Italian craftsmanship and innovation in America, while celebrating the Italian culture. This has led to a monthlong series of events during October, called Ciao Philadelphia.

More than 30 public events create a significant celebration focused on the innovation of Italian manufacturing from the historical to the modern, from “Men of Cloth: Three Master Tailors. A Vanishing Craft” on October 2nd to a symposium on wireless technologies Oct. 8th, both at Drexel University.

Celebrating Italian craftsmanship and innovation

“The initiative of Ciao Philadelphia brings together the Italian tradition and the advanced technological contributions of our entrepreneurial spirit. Our mark is the courage to be different, working with enthusiasm and creativity to build the future. But we cannot forget our heritage, our culture and the strong influence of our land on our achievements. Sponsoring the exhibition of photographs of Pavia is a way to promote the values of our company that are rooted in the land we come from.”, says Giuseppe Fedegari, President of Fedegari Technologies, Inc.

Ciao Philadelphia aims to honor the interests of Italians, Italian Americans, and “friends of Italy” by offering varied events, since Philadelphia has one of the “largest and most accomplished Italian American communities.” Andrea Canepari was honoured by the community’s reception of the Italian Heritage Month, particularly by top professionals and universities, namely Drexel, Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Fedegari state-of-the-art Training Academy in Philadelphia

Recently, Fedegari has completed the construction of a new facility and innovative training center in Sellersville (PA).  It represents a clear commitment of the company with the region, with high investments in R&D and training. The new facility will increase the interaction with American customers from process development activities to all levels of training in the field of sterilization and contamination control in general.

“We believe in the heritage of our territory, in the Italian expertise and tradition in building distinguishing values. Today Fedegari is a highly dynamic industrial group, ready to tackle the challenges of a global technological scenario. The region of Philadelphia is a bridge between the Italian shared values of entrepreneurship, craftsmanship and innovation and the American openness to advanced technologies, research and development. That’s why we have chosen to invest in a very innovative project building a state-of-the-art training center in Sellersville. We want to make our experience available to American customers, to better understand their needs and their vision for future developments in order to design more cost-effective solutions.” Giuseppe Fedegari, President of Fedegari Technologies, Inc.
